As I have neither pattern to follow nor experience in drawing and embroidering flowers, I thought it best to have a little practice on something other than my quilt! It was a good chance to see what works (stem stitch) and what doesn’t (french knots on top of satin stitch):
I also don’t like the stamens and pollen on the above almond blossom, so will probably just do a few tiny seed stitches to evoke the pollen. Sol likes it, but then he is a generous critic- everything ‘looks nice mummy.’
On to the actual banners now, which I’ve drawn out and started… gulp
