Hooray! Aided by school holidays and eager grandparents, I have managed to finish off the Jared Flood Old Shale Blanket. It’s my second ever knitted project and has been a lesson in frustration and perseverence.
I seriously considered abandonning the infernal thing after the fifth (fifth) start, but pig-headedly muddled on. The mistakes jump out at me but I suppose they always will, and it has left me part satisfied and part keen to cast on something new.

The baby it is for isn’t due until the summertime so for once I will have a baby present ready at birth! Next up is advent calendar decorations, but my knitting urges mean my Ravelry favourites folder is overflowing and I have my eye on this stunning shawl (more frustration, I think):

That’s stunning Sasha!
well done for keeping going xx it looks great, and if the mother is not a knitter she will never notice the mistakes that are SCREAMING at you xx
It’s brilliant! If you haven’t already washed/blocked it, do – it always evens it out a bit and any mistakes (I can’t see any) look less dramatic.
Good work – now, cast on that shawl… x
Beautiful..and I saw it being finished triumphantly!!x
Thanks all- I am glad I kept going, and will get round to blocking it Polly, once I’ve done a bit of searching out how to do it!
[...] finishing the Shale Baby Blanket, I have been eager to knit something. Something to teach me new skills, but something a bit quicker [...]
