Apologies for the poor quality phone photograph, but you’ll get the drift…
Just the sun left to appliqué, a mast to embroider, and the top will be done. I need to decide on backing fabric though, and am unsure whether to go for pattern, some stripes from Oakshott, or what. Any suggestions welcome!

I think something patterned for the back. An earthy toned tartan would look wonderful (the kind of patterns and colours you find on tweed)? Or something obliquely sea related: a muted design with anchors or similar?
Your quilt is wonderful btw: a real work of art!
Stripes could work really well – maybe in reds and blues, in keeping with the nautical theme?
Warm, sunny tones in contrast to the cool blues of the high seas with a hint of pattern..picking up on the ship’s hull and the sun? Or stripes too would look great Going to be lovely !
