Oh dear… you know the sweet red and white paisley I mentioned for the second advent calendar? Well it was sweet. It would have been Christmassy. But I had a purple bee in my bonnet (if that’s not too surreal a metaphor) and I couldn’t resist. The last two calendars have purple backgrounds. Well, purple can be Christmassy and to be honest I am red-white-and-greened out.
Here are two of the fabrics, the red one (used on the second calendar) has trios of birds on it in greeny turquoises, and was pinched from my grandmother’s stash, and the purply one is a new purchase. It is a sort of marble print, like the sort you get on the inside of old hardback books. I love it:
I also got a metre of plain purple, for the third calendar. And as I have spent rather too much money I was entitled to two ‘free gifts’ at the shop! I chose these two little floral prints, another weakness:
So there you go. It is no wonder I feel right at home on the Fabric Rehab site (see link adjacent), both in name and content…
More of the actual calendars to come, as they are nearly finished- I received the little jingle bells yesterday that the decorations will hang from. All (all!) that remains is to glue and sew the numbers on the pockets for two calendars, sew the bells on all four and bias bind all four. I will be a bit sad to see them go!
