I’m sorry cold comfort crafts has been a bit of a tumbleweed zone of late, but I needed to get more than one or two lines quilted before taking photos, and life has somewhat got in the way! But here are one or two snaps of the farm quilt now the actual quilting is under way.
I am quilting the tree and hill similarly to Theo’s quilt, but in 2cm increments rather than the more time-consuming (and punishing!) 1cm. The ‘unploughed’ part of the field has been quilted with a repeated ‘grass’ motif, as I thought I needed a contrast between the straight lines of the brown ploughed section and the unploughed bit.
Most irritatingly I didn’t have enough labrador fabric for the whole back- something I had suspected might happen but had been slightly in denial about! So I bought some plain red fabric and joined it up in a 4 squared grid, which I’m pleased with. The one thing I’m really disappointed in is the Spoonflower fabric- the doggie print itself is fantastic but the quality of the actual material just isn’t that great; plus it shrank quite irregularly after washing, despite only washing it on a delicate wash. At least the shrinkage is out of the way.
Hmm… better get back to it now!
