When there are tree trunks to haul, transport, chainsaw, chop and stack, along with the usual day to day stuff of family, gardening, house repairs… (oh, and work!) the big mama holz hausen is coming along more slowly than Oli had hoped. But coming along it is:
You can see the branches along the bottom used as the base to let the air circulate (Oli’s theory) in the photos above.
And the logs inside, which are on their ends, to act as a sort of chimney to air and season the wood as quickly as possible:
The original wee holz hausen has now been dismantled and stacked in the shed now it is all seasoned, and a new little one has been started. It is to use up a quantity of really fresh pine that will take longer to season and therefore can’t go in the big one. I’ll get a photo up soon!
