Oh dear… you know when you get something in your head and it just won’t leave? Sol tried playing snap, the classic children’s game, a few weeks ago. It was a bit beyond him but he hasn’t stopped talking about it since, so I thought I’d get him a set. Of course I want a pretty set. (If you’re going to stare intently at cards for what will amount to hours on end, a little aestheticism isn’t a bad thing!) I came across these amazing Galt ones from the 1960s.
The lovely illustrator and blogger Jane Foster has framed them for her daughter’s room- I’m sure they look amazing but it seems a shame not to play with them!
I don’t know if I had these cards, or a friend had them, but they seem so familiar. Of course it could be the general Kenneth Townsend (the illustrator) vibe- they are very of their time. So cool… and so not in print any more. Gutting. I have my eye on some ebay ones though…
Update– The ebay set sold for £57! I never stood a chance!
