Crikey… I seem to have had a bit of a blog break. This is because, while my blog was silent, left ruminating on the various baskets and jars acquired from a jumble sale, my life was Not. Not At All. In amongst all the stress, heartache, family illness, new job (Oli, not me!) and general life chaos, was not much crafting. For about 4 weeks, I made absolutely nothing, which now feels quite evidential of the fun times we were all having. Needless to say, things have calmed down, and I have made quite a few things, in such frenzied craft-starved state that I forgot to photograph much of them before giving away another hemlock hat, an owl hat for a baby, and a rather too large pentagon ball for putting a balloon into.
Regrettably in my happy rush I made the ruddy thing so large it requires a specialist sized balloon from a balloon shop. Ah well. The recipient loved it! I’m now making a knitted cushion cover for myself, with some hideous million-hue yarn from a charity shop:
I plan to over-dye it once it’s finished, with fingers firmly crossed that it works! I also have a ring pillow in the pipeline for my sister’s wedding, along with two bow ties for the boys in the same Liberty fabric as the flower girl’s dress.
It arrived today and is too lovely for words. It will take some deep breathing before the shears go near it.
And I’ve just been asked to make an adult owl hat with matching scarf and a simple wrap, all in some lovely soft Rowan baby alpaca yarn. Then there are the advent calendars, quilts to plan for and birthdays to think about… it feels wonderful to be making things again!
